Cultural background:
In Guizhou Province there is an old well known legend related to the “Jiyu” Bird.
Many ethnic minorities in Guizhou, like Miao, Buyi, Dong, Yi, Zhuang, Gelao and Tujia, used to wear the so called “hundred-birds” clothes during sacrifices and ceremonies. Some minorities even consider themselves to be the descendants of birds, and the Yue people worship the totem with birds.
Design concept:
Mythology contains the eternal theme of human beings. The Dashizi Plaza takes the myth of “Jiyu” Bird as a prototype, extending the myth to the whole history, forming the state of mutual penetration between history and reality.
Landscape structure:
Completing the dialogue between two helical lines and the surrounding urban environment, the multi-level landscape creates a space adapted to different uses.
As a result, the Plaza is not only a strong landmark, but also meets the needs of different kind of visitors, creating an open, semi-open and semi-private space.
The composition of the urban space:
“the body experience”
In the Dashizi Square project, architects use many elements: points, fragments, triggers, textures, sounds, lights, smells… enticing the body to experience and to achieve an appreciable, tangible, audible, sniffable and visible wholehearted spacial experience.
